Sony a découvert récemment qu'un nombre limité de produits utilisant un capteur CCD, fabriqué entre octobre 2002 et mars 2004 est susceptible de présenter le symptôme suivant : lorsque l'appareil est utilisé en mode camera, il peut apparaître soit une image distordue, soit pas d'image sur l'écran LCD et/ou le viseur électronique.

Notre contrôle qualité a pu déterminer que ce symptôme n'apparaît que sur un nombre très limité de produits.

Dans le cadre de son programme de satisfaction des consommateurs, Sony a décidé de prendre en charge la réparation de votre appareil s'il est concerné.

Image Phenomena Due to CCD Malfunction

Thank you for using Canon products.

A problem has been discovered in some of the CCDs used in Canon digital camera and digital video camera products that causes images to appear distorted or not to appear at all. We apologize for the considerable inconvenience this represents for our customers. Along with our respectful apology, we would like to advise our customers of the details of this issue and our policy for handling it, which are as follows.

Affected Models
The CCDs in question are used in the following models.

Digital Cameras
PowerShot A60, PowerShot A70, PowerShot A75, PowerShot A300, PowerShot A310, Digital IXUS V3, Digital IXUS II, Digital IXUS IIs


Digital Video Cameras
MV600i, MV630i, MV650i, MV700i, MV730i, MV750i, MV5i, MV5i MC, MV6i MC
ZR60, ZR65 MC, ZR70 MC, ZR80, ZR85, ZR90, Elura 40 MC, Elura 50


The Malfunction
Among the CCDs used in the affected products listed above, it has been confirmed that, especially under high-temperature/high-humidity environments, the internal wiring may come undone in some places.

If this defect occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD correctly when in shooting mode, which results in symptoms like the following in captured images. These symptoms can be confirmed on the LCD monitor. The same symptoms may also occur in recorded images.
• Images do not appear
• Images appear distorted


Canon's Response
With apologies for the inconvenience involved, we ask that users who have confirmed these symptoms contact the nearest Canon Service Center. Free repairs will be made for affected products in cases where it has been confirmed that the internal CCD wiring has come undone in some places.

You can came to Italy, here it seem that they repair it for free.
They will reapir for free my MV600 in Rome even if it is out of warrantee for this trouble only.

After receiving the almost instant e-mail from canon providing details I sent my MV600i to H Lehmann.

I only sent it on 29/09/05 in the afternoon asking for a quick repair if poss as i need it for a wedding and it was back on 1/10/05, 1 1/2 days later !!

Brilliant service, so pleased i visited this site otherwise like many others I wouldn't have bothered and probably just binned it !

I had purchased my MV 600 in UK 20 months back. I am right now in Switzerland. MV600 is dead - black screen of death. I have been pursuing Canon Switzerland to repair my camera. They blankly refused the first time on phone. After that I have been pursuing them on mail. But haven't received any positive reply from them.

When I quoted this forum and Canon UK to the operator on phone, she said different countries have different rules. And Canon Switzerland won't repair the camera for free.

I haven't lost all hopes yet. Trying...
